How to get started
Beginning therapy can feel like a big step. This page outlines the process so you know exactly what to expect.
Step 1: Research
If you are unsure whether working with a Mental Health Social Worker is right for you, you may find it helpful to read more about here:

This page explains the approach, what support involves, and what to expect in sessions.
Step 2: Consider Medicare Rebate (optional)
If you would like to access Medicare rebates, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP before your first session.

You can learn how to obtain one here:
How to Get a Mental Health Treatment Plan

You do not need a referral to begin therapy privately, however rebates are only available with a valid plan.
Step 3: Submit an Enquiry
When you’re ready, complete the enquiry form:

You may wish to include:
-
A brief outline of what you are seeking support for
-
Your preferred days and times
-
Whether you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan (if applicable)

You will receive a response within 1–2 business days.
Step 4: Book Your First Session
Once your enquiry has been reviewed, you will be offered an appointment time.

All sessions are delivered via secure online telehealth, allowing you to attend from anywhere in Australia using zoom platform for telehealth.

Prior to your first session, you will be asked to complete intake paperwork, consent forms and agreement to cancellation policy.
If you have questions at any stage, you are welcome to reach out via the enquiry form.
What Happens Next?
Your first session is a space to:
-
Discuss what has brought you to therapy
-
Clarify your goals
-
Ask any questions about the process
-
Begin building a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship
-
Make a plan together of what kind of therapy we will engage in and plan forward

There is no pressure to share everything immediately. Therapy moves at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
